The Latics continued their winning ways with a 3-0 thumping of Franchise FC. They had a penalty appeal for hand-ball turned down in the 6th. minute and seconds later Chris Killen missed a sitter. Jermaine Johnson opened his account in the 37th. minute with a brilliant piece of finishing from the edge of the box. It was just reward for the effort he had put in. Five minutes from the break Killen scored his first of the season with a glancing header after a Dean Holden cross which put the home side in the driving seat.

The game was put beyond all doubt on the 60 minute mark when Mark Arber (pictured) tapped in his first goal for the club at the far post, after a David Eyres free kick. It was probably Arber’s best game for the club. He has suffered some stick of late but when he cleared off the line a couple of times it make the Latics faithful start to think that perhaps he can play after all. Time will tell.

After the game Brian Talbot said, “Things are looking up. We have won two on the trot now. You can't really complain about the result but I think we took our foot off the pedal at 3-0 up, but that's understandable as the game's finished by then. I thought our first half performance was first class and we played as well as we've played in the time I've been at the club. We were passing the ball and dominating the game. 2-0 up at half time, I couldn't have asked for any more. I didn't think the opposition put us under enough physical pressure, maybe because we were passing the ball so quickly, I don't know. All I do know is that it was a result we needed, and we got it.”
