Rock-bottom Wycombe secured a 3-2 victory for their first away win of the season at Boundary Park to leave Oldham with relegation worries of their own.
Man-of-the-match Nathan Tyson scored twice for the visitors who had real cause for celebration after Craig Faulconbridge popped up with their late clincher.
Wanderers' boss Tony Adams said: "I am really pleased for the fans who travelled up and for the players who have been working so hard. They have given me everything without getting the right results so they deserve an away win.
"We could have been well behind before we learned our lessons and started dealing with certain situations.
"We have had a frustrating time but the lads have got there. And Nathan Tyson showed he is a good player who can score a lot of goals at this level." Oldham dominated the early stages, with Paul Murray shooting just wide and Ernie Cooksey sending a header over the bar.
And they took the lead on 18 minutes as teenager Wes Wilkinson, on his full League debut, crossed for Murray to volley home from 12 yards.
Wycombe bagged a surprise leveller five minutes later when Darren Currie picked out Tyson who ran into space behind the Oldham defence and slotted in from ten yards.
Tyson forced a good save from Les Pogliacomi before showing the home back line a clean pair of heels as he dashed from the centre circle and lifted his shot inside the far post.
Oldham drew level a minute before the break as Murray blasted across goal and John Eyre dived in to head home from six yards.
But Wycombe were belying their status and Matt Bloomfield was only denied by Michael Clegg's goal line clearance.
Tyson missed his hat-trick chance before Cooksey drew a top class save from Steve Williams at the other end.
The two draw specialists looked to be heading for another stalemate until Danny Senda whipped the ball across the six-yard box on 88 minutes and Faulconbridge lunged in to score at the far post.
