Athletic's recent run of five games undefeated came to an abrupt end as they were beated by a superior Southampton team. They had only themselves to blame and leaked crucial goals due to lacks of concentartion and errors. Assistant manager Martin Gray told the official Latics website, "It's very disappointing. We've had such a good run of late and all of a sudden we've really under achieved. It's no good battling as hard as we have if you're going to make such basic mistakes. Especially against a side of Southampton's quality you're going to be punished."

They have not outplayed us for big parts of the game, but we've handed them three opportunities and got punished for them. You tell Dean Brill (pictured) you're disappointed like you do with any player, if you look at the last five games he's kept four cleans sheets and made some big saves. Dean will come in Monday as normal and work with the Andy Collette, the goalkeeping coach, like normal. We'll watch the video and address it and hopefully it'll be better for next weekend."

"We don't have any news on Jon Worthington yet. He's over the road at the hospital right now and hopefully we'll here back tonight and it will not be as bad as first feared."
