Burton Albion were denied one of the shocks of the FA Cup first round when Oldham snatched a last minute equaliser.
The Nationwide Conference side, who had to play with ten men for over an hour after Colin Hoyle was sent off, were within seconds of a stunning victory.
Aaron Webster's penalty levelled matters before the Latics old boy Craig Dudley raced clear after 59 minutes and put the underdogs in front.
They almost held on but Oldham's pressure finally told at the end when a clever header by defender Fitz Hall broke Burton's hearts.
Dudley admitted after the game: "It's very disappointing not to hold on but to get a draw away from home with ten men is still very pleasing.
"We came here with people expecting us to get hammered but we put on a good show for the Conference and for Burton Albion." Oldham manager Iain Dowie said: "In the end it's a relief to get a replay because for all our pressure and chances Burton deserved a draw.
"We were hoping to win it at the first attempt but started to play too direct because we became very anxious." A dramatic tie immediately sparked into life and Oldham led after 17 minutes when Carlo Corazzin unselfishly headed across goal for wing-back Josh Low to volley in from six yards.
Hoyle saw red seven minutes later for a bad tackle on striker Wayne Andrews and, with his side up against a team who have lost only three league games all season, it was looking an impossible task.
Yet Albion dug in and levelled on the stroke of half time as Webster slotted in a spot kick following a foul by Clint Hill on Christian Moore which Oldham were convinced took place outside the box.
Oldham continued to press only for Dudley to race clear on to player-manager Nigel Clough's throughball and he calmly rounded the keeper to score on his first return since leaving Boundary Park in the summer.
Burton had half an hour to cling on and Oldham were hugely relived when Hall, who had moved up front, headed over the keeper with seconds remaining.
He almost got the winner in stoppage time but Matt Duke pulled off a superb flying save to earn Burton a deserved replay
