Clarke's debut to remember
Nathan Clarke scored on his debut as Oldham cruised to a 2-0 derby win against 10-man Rochdale.
The on-loan Huddersfield defender doubled Oldham's advantage just before the break after Reuben Reid had fired them ahead with his third penalty of the season.
It was a torrid afternoon for Rochdale's former Oldham defender Neal Trotman, who conceded the spot kick and was sent off in the 41st minute for two yellow cards.
Oldham's breakthrough came in the 32nd minute as Trotman fouled Chris Taylor deep inside the box and Reid slotted his penalty to the right of goalkeeper Jake Kean.
After Trotman collected his second booking for a late challenge on Kieran Lee, Oldham cashed in during first-half stoppage time, Clarke diving to head in a Filipe Morais corner.
Oldham had several chances to increase their lead after the break as Lee and Carl Winchester had efforts cleared off the goalline and Reid brought a good save from Kean.
