David Cornell error gifts Colchester first point in 10 gamesColchester ended a run of nine straight League One defeats as they drew 1-1 at fellow strugglers Oldham.The Us were gifted a point when Chris Porter capitalised on a late blunder by Oldham goalkeeper David Cornell.Oldham went ahead after only five minutes as a well-worked free-kick saw Mike Jones pick out Danny Philliskirk, whose lay-off was drilled in from eight yards by Rhys Murphy.Colchester's Marvin Sordell tested Cornell from 20 yards but both sides struggled to make first-half chances in a tight midfield battle.Oldham almost doubled their lead in the 52nd minute when Jake Cassidy met a Jones set-piece and forced a good save from Colchester keeper Elliot Parish.Parish also denied Brian Wilson after the centre-back was left unmarked at the far post to head goalwards from a Jones corner.Colchester levelled on 81 minutes, with Garvan's corner going straight through the hands of Cornell and bouncing in off Porter.The U's could have snatched victory, but Darren Ambrose's 20-yard drive crashed against the bar
