Athletic kept their play-off hopes alive with a fine 0-2 win at Notts County. The first half was a boring non event with neither side even winning a corner kick! Two quick goals in the second half settled the match and plunged County into further relegation trouble.

The first was scored by Paul Murray (pictured left) who looped a header, and five minutes later leading scorer Corazzin (pictured celebrating) headed his eighth goal of the campaign. County have now gone four games without hitting the net and the Latics were content to sit on the two goal cushion.

Wadsworth introduced Duxbury to replace John Sheridan in midfield and the move paid dividends as they contained the play and held out for a fine victory.

Ex-Latics player and now Notts County Manager Bill Dearden has seen his team win one and lose five in a row since he took charge. His only comment was, “It shows what lack of confidence the players now have in themselves”.
