The Latics drew their cross-border friendly at Clyde 2-2 although they got off to the worst possible start with John Thompson heading an own goal within the first two minutes of play. Colin Hendry's team were parading seven trialists as they only have 14 professional players on their books. In the 12th. minute Michael Ricketts (pictured) put Craig Davies away on the left and the striker cut inside and fired home the equaliser through the home keeper's legs. Ricketts was also unlucky with a nifty lob that just missed. Arbuckle missed an open goal and Imrie had a good effort saved by an alert Mark Crossley.
In the second half another mistake from Thompson resulted in his back-pass allowing Arbuckle the simplest of chances to put Clyde ahead yet again. Chris Taylor was unlucky before an Andy Liddell corner was headed in by an impressive Deane Smalley to give the visitors a share in a 2-2 final score.
However, the defensive frailties must be a worry to manager John Sheridan but he can take some pleasure in the fact that at least his forwards are scoring, particularly from set pieces.
