Long wait continues for Spireites

Chesterfield's long winless run continued as Oldham hit back to earn a 1-1 draw at the B2net Stadium.

Jordan Bowery put the hosts ahead after 34 minutes and goalkeeper Tommy Lee kept the Latics at bay until Matt Smith beat him on the stroke of half-time.

It left John Sheridan's side looking for their first League One victory in 15 matches since beating Carlisle in mid-September.

Oldham had to come from behind twice against Notts County on Saturday and they were trailing again when Alex Mendy crossed for Bowery to volley high into the net from 15 yards out.

Lee preserved Chesterfield's lead with a diving save to thwart Dean Furman and then he did well to keep out a Chris Taylor shot. But he was beaten in first-half stoppage-time when Smith headed in a Filipe Morais cross from the left-hand side.

Lee saved his team again in the 71st minute when he dived to his left to push away a low shot from Tom Adeyemi.

Both sides had chances to win it in injury-time. First Lee held a low drive from Taylor and then Chesterfield substitute Scott Boden headed straight at goalkeeper Alex Cisak.
