The Latics forced a 1-1 draw with Brentford, courtesy of an incredible strike from on loan Nick Blackman (pictured). They almost took an early lead through Sean Gregan but his flick was headed clear by Hunt after the home keeper had been beaten and then Saunders almost gave the hosts the lead after half an hour but Andy Holdsworth was on hand to divert the ball for a corner. However, Holdsworth turned villain after bringing down Saunders in the 41
st. minute and O,Connor gave the Bees the lead from the penalty spot.
In the second half, the visitors had the better chances and deservedly pulled back a goal with the inch-perfect 25 yard stunner from Blackman. The Latics didn't have it all their own way though and several of the long ball tactics caused some panic in defence although they could have snatched it but they wasted their chances. In the end it was Brentford who semed most pleased with a share of the spoils.
