Youngsters offered contracts

Professional contracts have been offered to two of Athletic's up-and-coming Boundary Park scholarship graduates. Midfielder Joe Doran and goalkeeper Tom Whittle are set to sign 12-month contracts and they will boost the total number of full-time professionals to 30. That total could still increase before the start of next season.


Whittle was on the bench for last season's FA Cup tie at Hull and adds more competition for the number-one goalie spot. It may be that Wadsworth will have to use a rotation system just to give his stoppers a reserve team game.
