Athletic are rumoured to be in the hunt to sign veteran striker Dean Windass on loan from Hull City. They will face stiff competition, particularly from Saturday's visitors Hartlepool United. Leeds United, Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers have also been mentioned to be in the hunt.Alan Hardy said, "John Sheridan has been a long-time admirer of Windass and we would be interested in any player who would improve the squad. But I can't confirm or deny that we have made an approach to Hull City."
Windass wrote on his blog, "It's not true I've been released but assistant manager Brian Horton called and told me the club were accepting offers to take me on loan. That tells you all you need to know about my future here. So far Hartlepool has come in for me and I'm waiting to see how things develop. I'm going to talk over the move with my family over the next couple of days and take it from there."
