Former Latics' caretaker manager Pete Wild has been appointed as the new manager of FC Halifax Town. Wild had been at Oldham since the age of 18 and worked his way through the backroom staff before having two stints as the head job at the Latics. He was in charge both before and after the ill-fated appointment of Paul Scholes. His crowning glory was instrumenting the defeat of Premier League Fulham in the third round of the FA Cup.

Wild commented, "I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead. I feel I can draw on my experiences from last season and work quickly to ensure this Club competes well in this division. I’ll be looking to draw on the experience of Nathan Clarke, Matty Brown and the other senior pros to ensure they help drive the squad forward. This is an exciting time for us all and a challenge we should all embrace.”
