Ian Westlake is continuing to improve from the serious knock against Peterborough which has kept him out recently. Latics Physio Marc Czuczman told the official website, "Westy was fine in training last week but his eyesight deteriorated again on Friday. We took him straight to an opthalmic surgeon on Friday who confirmed that there was nothing serious going on, and that the problem needed time to settle."
"Ian was having problems changing focus from the ball to his surroundings, when watching players' runs for example. We went outside today and did a lot of running and ball chasing, set up similar to a game situation - following, tracking and passing. He felt good during training and is hoping to pick up his training in time to be involved on Saturday. However, we'll be constantly checking his response this week and then make a decision nearer the time."
