Wellens on Jewell

Richie Wellens has given some of the reasons why assistant manager Paul Jewell left Boundary Park. One main gripe was that he was frustrated at the standard of the training ground. The former Bradford City manager had been appointed to help out with the first team.

Wellens said, “We come in every morning we try and be as prepared as possible but the training ground is flooded one minute then the next it’s fine. I think he just got frustrated because obviously he’s been at big clubs and managed at good clubs where the training ground and the facilities are fantastic but I’ll still lean on him for experience and guidance. When he pulled me in and we spoke it was a little bit of shock but at the end of the day Paul Jewell’s had a fabulous career you’ve got to respect it and obviously I want people who are as hungry as I am and I want people around me who are the same. I said thanks to Paul and I can still ring him anytime.”
