Walsall success praised by Crossley

The 3-0 success at Walsall was praised by Latics keeper Mark Crossley who thought that, for once, they had the rub of the green with the officials. Crossley told Latics World, "It was a good win, and we've not had a lot of luck in the games previous to Saturday. Sometimes you don't get penalty decisions like the Michael Ricketts one away from home, but I looked on the TV afterwards and it was definitely the right decision. That settled our nerves a little bit, and to come away with a win was vitally important."

Just after the opening goal, Crossley played his part by stopping a goal bound effort from Edrissa Sonko. Crossley went on, "I didn't know much about it to be honest. It was point blank and hit me more in the face than the hands, though I suppose I was in the right place plus it happened at 1-0 so it was vital in that respect. Now it's imperative I stay fit because we don't want to bring in more players if we can help it. I'll have to wrap myself in cotton wool a bit and hopefully stay fit because we've only got the two young lads as backup. If I got injured the manager would bring someone else in on loan."

"I'm looking forward to the two home games. Saturday is the most important at the moment. It's a winnable game so we must make sure we do that. If we do, we will find ourselves on nine points and maybe relax a bit more. Leeds are on fire at the moment and we know how strong they are. If we can deal with their front two we will have half a chance but we are thinking about Crewe before Leeds."
