The Latics gained a very useful point at Wigan on Saturday and it could have been even better, but for a lack of finishing. Wigan were boasting a nine game unbeaten run and it was severely tested with the Wigan manager admitting after the match that his team were lucky to retain the run.
Latics manager John Sheridan was full of praise and said, “We were unfortunate not to come away with three points. We were tremendous in the first half and I am proud of the players. It is a good point and nobody expected us to get anything here today, the way they have been scoring goals. We looked a good team. I changed my formation and had to give them respect. The shape about us was really good. It was a well deserved point and a shame we didn’t get all three.”
“Joel Coleman made two saves, one with his foot and a great save near the end one-handed. Other than that I was very comfortable. Yanic Wildschut came into it in the second half, which you expect, but we stood our ground.”
