As pre-season training resumed at the University of Bolton, it was a wafer-thin affair with only five senior contracted professionals available for the session. The Latics, still without a manager, had coach Peter Shirtliff running the show which took the form of a testing session.
There will be a mountain of organising to do with the season opener just a month away. Some of the players were not even wearing official training kit. The first friendly match, against Huddersfield Town, takes place next week and the Latics are the only League One club yet to make a new signing ahead.
