Marc Tierney has joined League Two Shrewsbury Town on a free transfer. Only last week, Tierney rejected an offer to go out on loan, hoping that he could fight his way back into the Latics starting eleven. Local lad Tierney has impressed in the youth set-up at Boundary Park and made a total of 47 appearances, making his debut during the 2003-04 campaign. The full back also went on loan to Carlisle United but manager John Sheridan made his intention clear last week that he needed to unload two fringe players. 21 year old Tierney has signed a two and a half year deal at Gay Meadow which also includes a 30% sell-on clause.
