John Thompson has been told that he could face up to six weeks out of action after a specialist has revealed some cartilage damage in his knee. Thompson will go under the knife next Thursday so he will miss tonights clash with his old club Nottingham Forest. With captain Sean Gregan also with a knee problem, it poses problems for under pressure boss John Sheridan.
Shez commented, "Thommo looks like he's going to be out for up to six weeks. It never rains but it pours. But I'm not one to moan at injuries, they happen in football. I've just got to concentrate on who I've got in the team and this gives a chance to one or two of those who thought they wouldn't be playing. Now Neal Trotman and Stefan Stam need to stand up and be counted, and hopefully they'll do well and keep their places."
