As the season draws to a close, manager Paul Dickov has set his sights on the acquisition of a new striker for next season. There's no doubting the fact that the Latics have struggled this season with not being able to find the net and too many games have ended goal-less for the powder puff Latics attack.
The manager is well aware of the situation and realises that '20 goals a season men' are hard to come by but he said, “We are looking to bring in a striker as we have fallen short in that department. You only have to look at our goals for column and how many goals individual players have scored to see it is a problem.”
“We believe if we had somebody who had scored 15-20 goals, we would still be in and around the play offs. We have also conceded too many silly goals. Having said that, if we had cut them out and scored all our chances, we would have been top of the table with Brighton.”
