The Latics held an exclusive legends signing session in the club shop before Wednesday's FA Youth Cup First Round tie against Crewe Alexandra. The signing coincide with the release of Garth Dykes' new book, "The Legends of Oldham Athletic", and the author was also on hand to sign copies of his new book. Alan Hardy commented before the session, "Some wonderful players will be gracing Boundary Park once more to take part in this signing session. The club is very appreciative of the fact that so many legends have agreed to come and sign copies of the new book. This exemplifies just how highly they regard both the club and its supporters."The new book is a riveting read for any die hard Athletic fan and was penned as a tribute to one hundred of the club's favourite players. It includes some of the clubs most important players and managers and gives a full page picture of each player with text of the player's career, achievements at Boundary Park, career after Athletic and where relevant, the player's life outside football.
The book is illustrated throughout with high quality photographs and is a must read for all football fans, especially Oldham Athletic supporters. The author deliberated and consulted with fans of the club to compiled a selection of what he considers to be the 100 top players which includes favourites from recent times as well as stars of a bygone era.
