Richie Wellens admits that his team have to beat the teams in the bottom section of League One if they hope to avoid relegation. With recent postponements they have games in hand in most of the teams fighting to avoid the drop, but they still have to be won.
Wellens declared, “I said after the Bradford and Blackburn games that they were big results, but they're bonus points really. The results that will define our season are the eight or so games we have against teams in and around us. They'll define where we finish, not the games away to Blackburn or at home to Bradford. Most managers and players are the same, when you win your game you're straight on your phone after the game looking at results in and around you. When you're playing against a rival on a similar amount of points as you, you've know you've got three points on them straight away which is great. We're effective on our pitch and away from home we can enjoy better surfaces, so we're confident we'll pick up enough wins to stay up.”
