Talbot on Port Vale defeat

Brian Talbot (pictured) admitted that Oldham should have ended their run of seven consecutive victories yesterday, by losing 3-1 to Port Vale. He said "I don't think we created too many chances, and we actually went in front, but on the day we were second best on many areas of the pitch."

He also lamented Latics' defensive shortcomings, by saying that Dave Beherall's "body position was wrong" for the second goal.

Unfortuntely Talbot also had to give the latest news on Oldham's mini injury crisis at the moment. Mark Hughes (chest) and Lee Croft (ankle) all had to go off because of knocks they had picked up during the game. Talbot also took some of the blame for JJ making his injury comeback off the bench - only to go off just nine minutes later. Apparently the injury was in the "same knee...He's trained this week and he's been fine...I wasn't going to put him on the bench but he trained so well yesterday (Friday). I put him on the bench and it's a mistake by the manager.
