Swailes explained, “The scan has shown a big improvement in that the fracture has healed by over 75 per cent. My surgeon has told me to train and initially I will be running in straight lines, twisting and turning and kicking a football. I cannot feel anything in everyday life, but the test will come when I train and put extra pressure on my foot. My surgeon has told me the fracture is in an unusual place and he has never seen one there before. He says he would have no qualms about doing the operation (if needed) but hopefully it won't come to that. I feel embarrassed to have played so little and I simply want to get out there and play.”
