Survival game arranged at Boundary Park

A game between two star studded ex-Latics players is being held to raise money for Athletic’s Supporters Trust. The game will be played at 3:00pm on Saturday 12th July 2003 with the match will be staged as The Wembley Wizards v The Millenium Allstars. Admission will be by donation of at least £10 for adults, £5 concessions and it is hoped to raise £70,000 for the cause of staying in business. All players, officials, stewards, gatemen are donating their services free of charge and Chris Coleman will referee the game.


The Wembley Wizards (1990 Littlewoods Cup Final team) will comprise of Andy Rhodes, Denis Irwin, Andy Barlow, Nick Henry, Paul Warhurst, Roger Palmer, Rick Holden, Frankie Bunn, Andy Ritchie (pictured), Mike Milligan, Neil Adams, Gary Williams with guest appearences. Earl Barret is unable to play due to restrictions from his insurance company but will act as team manager.


The Millenium Allstars team contains Jon Hallworth, Neil Pointon, Mike Flynn, Paul Jones (senior), Paul Bernard, Tommy Wright, Neil Redfearn, Greame Sharp, Iain Dowie, Tony Philliskirk, Richard Jobson and Lee Richardson.


Two team places will be reserved for supporters and will be given to the highest bidders in an auction. It is also hoped to add special guest stars from the Premiership.
