Troubled striker Allan Smart has signed for Dundee United on a free transfer. Smart was sacked by Athletic following a police incident in Chadderton involving team-mate Paul Murray. Smart joined the Latics for £225,000 six months ago from Watford but the club have lost a transfer fee due to breach of contract. His seven goals in 24 appearances worked out at £32,000 per goal.
