Smart appeals

Allan Smart has appealed against his recent sacking by Athletic for two serious breaches of club discipline in the last five months. Smart cost £225,000 when he was signed from Watford in November and immediately lodged an appeal to the Football League. The Football League Appeals Committee will now conduct a hearing. Last Monday Smart was charged in court with assault and public order offences.
