Deane Smalley has been praised by boss John Sheridan after his successful return to the team at Bristol Rovers. Smalley was selected to replace the rested Andy Liddell and Shez singled him out as the man of the match. Sheridan told Latics World, "Deane was the best player on the pitch on Tuesday. He has given me a decision to make and that's what I want from the kid. I could see in his face he wasn't happy with me not picking him, but he definitely didn't let himself down when called upon.
