Paul Dickov has signed Huddersfield Town's Robbie Simpson on a three month loan. The 26-year-old forward made his home debut in the game against Stevenage on Saturday and the manager is delighted to have him on board. Simpson almost marked his debut with a goal and was unlucky to see his shot graze the bar.
The manager commented, “It is no secret that I have been after Robbie for some time. He is a player who has been unlucky with injuries in the last couple of years. I saw him a lot last season when he was at Brentford and he is a very good footballer and I am sure he could play in the Championship if stays fit. He will add quality to our team and hopefully also goals. Robbie can play either wing, up front as a target man or can play off the front man.”
Simpson is looking forward to his time at Boundary Park and said, “I would have liked to have done the loan earlier and may be for the full season, but it is not to be. I have to make the most of these three months to impress everyone and hopefully they will want me again after that. I wanted to stay close to my brother because we have had some terrible circumstances in my family and also remain in League One because I believe I am good enough to play at this level as I have proved whenever I have played at it. I wasn't prepared to drop down and another reason was because I wanted to play for Oldham."
"When Nathan Clarke came here, I was delighted for him and I thought it might spur things to make me come here sooner. I speak to Nathan every day and we are really good friends and he was telling me how good it was here which got me even more frustrated so I stopped ringing him in the end. When I have played as a striker I think my goals to game ratio has been as good as anybody.”
