Peter Shirtliff is another official to leave Boundary Park. Having recently been appointed as coach he has consequently decided on a u-turn for 'personal reasons.' Shirtliffe was instrumental in Athletic's survival last season when he formed a formidable partnership with, then manager, John Sheridan.
Shirtliff commented, “I have had a fantastic time at Oldham and I am sad to be leaving. I hope people understand that this is not a football related decision but a consequence of a personal matter. I have the upmost respect for the club, fans and the board and will no doubt be a regular visitor next season and I certainly would not rule out a return at some point in the future.”
