Shez on Maher

John Sheridan told of his delight at the acquisition of 31 year old midfielder Kevin Maher. He explained to Latics World, "I'm delighted Kevin has signed; he is a good addition. He'd been captain at his previous club for six years and has won a couple of promotions before - including from this division. Kevin has great experience, a bit of grit and he puts himself about and will help the younger players about the place. I think he'll prove to be a very good signing."

"I know what type of player Kevin is and I know what I'll be getting once he's fit. He has good set-piece delivery and takes care of the ball. Just because I've brought him in doesn't mean he's automatically in the team, but I like the way he plays and I think he'll do well.
