Defender Richie Byrne's temporary deal is due to expire next week and manager John Sheridan is keen for it to be extended. The ex-Aberdeen player had only made one appearance as substitute but has impressed in the reserve side and was plunged into his full debut in the loss at Stockport County.
Sheridan said, "I'd like to keep Richie and we've had a chat about it. Richie has kept pushing away like I wanted him to. I'm sure he'd like to play more football, but that's just the way things are at the moment as we're doing well. But if we can get something sorted out I'd like to keep him. Richie is an accomplished player and that's why I brought him here. He has done well in the reserves and is training very well at the moment. Richie's getting stronger and hopefully he will take his chance when it comes along."
