Shez apologises to fans
John Sheridan issued a personal apology to the club's supporters after his side's display at Gresty Road. There was around 2,000 Latics supporters made the journey to Crewe and Sheridan revealed he "felt sick" for the travelling fans.
His apology came on the official website and he said, "Our performance was very disappointing. I feel sick for the fans and I am not just saying that. They came in numbers but we didn't perform apart from the last ten minutes and our defending was abysmal from players I expect better from. However, the whole team didn't play well. I don't want to single out the defence. Personally I'd like to apologise to the supporters for our display today and the performances we've been giving them recently. I still think we will make the play-offs. I have to, and I have and will be telling that to the lads. I'd ask the fans to stick with us. They deserve something for the support they've given us this year, and they deserve a chance at the play-offs and getting into the Championship."
He should take one fan's view and put it into practice. The fan suggested "Shez asked for the 12th. man and we gave it him yet again. The fans were outstanding yet again and we are doing all that can be asked of us. Shez was right to apologise to the fans. In fact he should make all the players who played today walk in front of the supporters before the kick off next week and make them all publicly say "I'm sorry" directly in front of the fans."
"Man of the match - got to be the Latics fans. We have a squad number and deserve it better than any of the shambles that were supposed to be footballers out on the field today. I'm really annoyed that we are bottling it big time."
