Sheridan relishing trip to Leeds
John Sheridan is relishing his return to his old club Leeds United, where he is still revered by their fans for the seven successful seasons which he gave to them. In all, he made 276 appearances for the Whites and scored 55 goals in the process before leaving the club in August 1989.
Sheridan takes his team to Elland road with a record of five successive away wins but admits that the game against Leeds will be one of his toughest. He told Latics World, "Obviously I still live in the area, and they're flying at the moment and there'll be a big crowd. It's a great game to play in, and it'll be a great experience for some of the players who haven't played at Elland Road before because it's a great place to play football. Dennis Wise's teams play right to the final whistle, they go right to the end and they've got some players who can big a big threat. Obviously the strikers are doing well, and we will have to be ready for a very hard game."
"I've played against Dennis Wise lots of times, and had some good battles with him. He was a player I liked. He's a winner who always says what he has to say and he's doing very well at Leeds. If I had the choice, I would love Oldham and Leeds to go up this season. One thing about Leeds is that teams usually raise their game for some reason when they go there so hopefully we can do that. This is another game we can win. We've already played them once this season and, even though we lost the game, we matched them in all areas."
