Sheridan hits out at boo-boys
Latics manager John Sheridan has spoken out about the minority of boo-boys at the Latics home games. He has dubbed them "bitter and twisted" and admits that he is sick of his players being heckled. It is rumoured that he stuck two fingers up at a section of the Boundary Park following at the recent Millwall game and he has appealed to the bitter fans to stay away from Boundary Park.
Sheridan said, "I want the supporters to understand more than anything that I want to get us out of this division. I've been here for a long time. I have a lot of time for the club, the players and the town and nobody gets more frustrated than me. On numerous occasions we've looked an excellent team and, likewise, we've looked poor. That drives me mad and I understand people having a go. But it won't do any good. It happened last Saturday and although 99 per cent of the fans are right behind us, there are one or two who I would rather stayed at home. If they want to have a go at anyone, have a go at me. I'll take it on board, but I think there are a few people waiting for the opposition to go in front so they can start having a moan."
"I'll make it clear, that's no good to us. We, and I as manager, want this club to take the next step, and it's important everyone understands that. Attendances haven't been great this season and you can look at various reasons, but I'm not daft, it's about results and my job is to get a winning team on the pitch. We want to give the fans something to shout about. I want to get us out of this division as soon as possible, and I want to excite people and get them back here watching Oldham."
