The Latics have released seven more of their professionals players. Ryan Brooke, Djeny Bembo-Leta, Matt Carr, Keanu Marsh-Brown, Phil McGrath, Josh Parker and Reuben Reid have all been told that they will not be retained. With the addition of previously named Paul Black and Zander Diamond, a total of nine players will not be at Boundary Park next season.
Paul Dickov has also named nine out-of-contract players that he would like to keep although no new deals have yet been made. The boss would like to keep Kieran Lee, Robbie Simpson, Bradley Diallo, Yousseff M'Changama, James Wesolowski, Dean Bouzanis, Kirk Millar, Filipe Morais and Chris Taylor but finances might dictate that all of the players who will be offered new deals might not remain.
Dickov said, “All the players are aware we want to retain them, but there is a chance we won't be able to keep them all. It will boil down to what we are able to offer them and what they are willing to accept. However, I have been given encouraging signs that, apart from ChrisTaylor, they all want to stay. We cannot have a repeat of last summer when negotiations dragged on for most of the close season. I need to know soon if players will be staying because, if they are not, I will have to find replacements as the building for next season starts now.”
