Second class Latics fail to show up

The 2-0 loss at Northampton left Athletic manager John Sheridan very unhappy with the performance, or lack of. Always second best the visitors fell to two second half strikes and could only muster one attempt on goal near the end of the match.

Shez told Latics World, "Players who played very well against Leyton Orient looked completely different today. I want players who want to get out of this league and who will perform week in, week out. I'm probably saying similar things to what Orient manager Martin Ling said last week. They wanted it more than us and it showed. We were not effective today; we looked poor, weak and a bit of a soft touch."

"I don't like any team of mine playing like that. We didn't threaten their goal at all, really. Chris Taylor (pictured) had to pull out with a virus, which was a shame because he's a player who gives us a lot of energy."
