"I've said from the beginning that home form was important and you're doing well if you can be a dominant force at home as well as picking up a few wins on your travels. If teams want to win promotion, then they need to aim towards getting an average of two points per game, and I don't think we're too far off that target. If the season ended tomorrow, we'd be promoted. We just need to carry it on and hopefully get even stronger."
Scunthorpe game is a game we can win
Speaking of the top two clash on Saturday, Latics boss John Sheridan had the following to say, "Obviously, top versus second is a massive game, and I think it's one we can win. Scunthorpe are a very good footballing side and we know their strengths, but we'll go into the game full of confidence and hopefully we can get a win. There's going to be a big travelling support there, too. This little run is great for the supporters and I'm pleased the lads are giving them something to cheer about. They've not had much to shout about over the years but we're playing consistently well and have got ourselves in a great position. The fans are giving the team great backing and have supported us very well from day one."
