Paul Scholes who has just retired from playing for Manchester United has revealed that he considered joining the Latics before he retired from playing. Scholes is 36-year-old and is a lifelong Latics fan, and rumours have been flitting around Boundary Park that one day he would play for the team, a decision which has now been quashed by the superstar.
He told Radio Manchester, “Had I still felt great physically then I probably would have played on and Oldham would have been a possibility. The decision I made to retire was just the way I was feeling. If I couldn't go to another club, play well and contribute to another team then I didn't see the point of doing that.”
Scholes made 676 appearances for the Reds and will continue to be a regular spectator at Boundary Park.
