New Latics manager Paul Scholes described his first training session with his lads as more like a soccer school than a first team! Scholes commented, “I can't say it's a Paul Scholes side as we only had an hour and a half on the training pitch on Monday. We've had 27 players to train with and it's more like a soccer school than a first team. I try not to worry too much about the opposition because I know the quality we have in our team. If we play anything like we can do, we'll have a chance of winning.”
His words rang true as they won their first game 4-1 over a bruising Yeovil Town on Tuesday night, a team which had come to stop the home side playing. The Glovers achieved this for a certain amount of time with some rough tackling which resulted in full-back Tom Hamer having to leave injured after a mere 10 seconds of the game.
