Connor Ripley was again the star of the show against high-flying Millwall at Boundary Park on Saturday. His contribution was ‘above and beyond’ as he saved two penalty kicks to deprive Millwall of all three points – and they came in the 90th minute and injury time. Lee Gregory was twice deprived as Ripley had to dive both ways to thwart the penalty kicker.
John Sheridan said, “The fight and the spirit is there and you could sense the relief. It might even have been a blessing in disguise, giving everyone a lift. If we do get relegated, it certainly won't be without a fight. Connor produced two great saves. It was our downfall and not through the way we played. People were daydreaming and not taking care of the ball. It gave them momentum and got them up the pitch. Whether we’re tired or not, we should not end up being so relieved to have ended up getting a point.”
