The 28 year old said, "I still want to play at the highest level possible, but at the moment all I am doing is looking forward to playing for Oldham. If I do well and, if anyone comes in for me, then it may be in Oldham's interests to sell me if they are offered a good price. I have not played regular football for four years and had I joined a Championship club there was no guarantee of that. At this stage of my career, I need to be playing every week and I am hoping to achieve that with Oldham."
"I spoke to the manager and chairman and they both had positive things to say and they are looking to build on what they achieved last season. I knew what the manager was like as a player and he wants his team to play the way that he did, and he convinced me to sign. I'd started playing regularly for Preston but in the FA Cup tie against Manchester City I sustained a partial dislocation of my shoulder and after that I never managed to get back in the side on a regular basis. This is the path which has happened, and it is something you have to accept. I have had great times in football and I wouldn't change what has happened for the world because a lot of people would have loved to be in my position."
"Obviously you get highs and lows in football and the last four years have not been the best of times. Things have not gone as I would have liked, but I wouldn't describe them as bad. I would say people starving in Africa are having bad times. I've played for some big clubs and with some great players in the last four years."
