Ricketts goes on loan

Michael Ricketts has joined Walsall on a three month loan deal. After signing a three year deal with Latics in the summer he was unhappy that he was left on the bench for last weeks visit to Nottingham Forest. The 29 year old has played 12 games for the Latics, scoring twice. If Ricketts does the business at Walsall it is expected that he will make the move permanent and he has also been given permission to play in the FA Cup.

Let's hope that TTA have done their sums right as the move could remove a heavy wage earner from the books. Ricketts has hardly endeared himself to the fans in his short time at Boundary Park and it is rumoured that he has strutted the 'big time Charlie' stuff around the club. The loan deal is to the end of January which gives both clubs the chance to thrash out a permanent deal without him having to return to Oldham. Is it a coincidence that the team put in a better performance at Nottingham Forest?

We don't have the information whether the signing was John Sheridans or the boards but his attitude to one fans request for an autograph was not a good one and the club is currently in need of players who will roll up their sleeves and fight with pride for the shirt they wear. This could be one expensive learning curve for TTA and the manager. Let's hope the final outcome is a good one for all the parties involved.
