Club captain Reuben Hazell has parted company with Athletic after he failed to agree a new contract. Hazell had been at Boundary Park nearly four years and made 166 appearances while scoring seven goals.
Latics boss Paul Dickov commented, “I would like to thank Reuben for his services as he was a great servant for me during my first year as manager. Unfortunately we were unable to agree terms and it is time for him to move on. Reuben did great for me last season, but it is no point looking back and we have to move forward. We have a budget and structure in place and we cannot afford to jeopardise the future of the club.”
