Points dropped but Shez still smiling

John Sheridan watched his team go seven games without defeat and, although they dropped two points, was still pleased with the performance. He told Latics World, "We played well and with great tempo. I thought we were in control at 1-0, but we let Luton back into the game with a very soft goal. However, I can't fault the lads' effort. We dominated the game and created lots of chances, but little things didn't go our way."

It was a great move and a great ball from Chris to Craig, who finished very well. I was very happy there and we looked comfortable at that point. But then we conceded from a silly free-kick and we've got to deal with things like that better. It was a very weak goal to give away because it's not as if they've opened us up at all. I don't mind teams scoring through good football, but we should have dealt with it better straight from a free-kick."

"We created chances, put in the work rate and got balls into the box, and we should have won the game but things just wouldn't fall for us. It's a point, we're still unbeaten and we're playing better. In our position it was unfortunate we couldn't get the three points, but I've said to the lads that if we carry on playing like that we'll be okay. We took the game to Luton from start to finish. I'm proud of how the lads played and the effort they put in."
