Athletic have reached agreements with two players over the termination of their contracts. Defender Michael Clegg had been offered a deal to terminate his contract and has now agreed to the final settlement. Clegg signed on a free from Manchester United early in 2002 but never really established himself. He made 45 league and cup starts and made 7 appearances as substitute.
Ernie Cooksey (pictured) is the other player who has been out of favour with manager Brian Talbot. The 24 year old former Crawley player made 41 league and cup appearances after signing for former manager Iain Dowie. Cooksey made regular appearances under Dowie but after agreeing the settlement it is expected that Ernie will make the short trip down the road to sign for neighbours Rochdale.
