Mr. Hardy said, "I've been at the club a long, long time, and I've seen many schemes put forward in that time. There was the possibility of building a stadium on the old Westwood running track where B&Q is now, and then Sports Park 2000. But Simon Blitz, Simon Corney and Danny Gazal wanted to redevelop Boundary Park, and this is a landmark day for Oldham Athletic. It's something the fans deserve, because for years they've been going to other towns and seeing the benefit of rebuilt and redeveloped stadia. This is almost as good as getting to Wembley in the League Cup Final and FA Cup semi-finals, but this redevelopment is important because it's about the future. It's not to do with the past, this is about looking ahead and hopefully Oldham Athletic will now have a bright future to look forward to."
"Obviously it's important to work closely with the local authority's planning officers. We went back and made some material changes after the November meeting, and those were accepted. The Highways problems were also cleared up to everyone's satisfaction. Now it's onwards and upwards. Watch us go."
