Dave Penney was delighted after his side saw off Carlisle United at Boundary Park. He told Latics Player, "It was nice to get the three points, I'm delighted for the supporters. It's important, I've said to the players 'let's get this monkey off our back' - whether it's not to do with me or the majority of the players doesn't matter - you can see why the supporters have been frustrated. It's about both penalty boxes. Today Dean's made some vital saves for us, he was excellent. The thing is that there is nowhere to hide if you're a striker or a goalie, as there's no coming back from a missed chance or a goal conceded. I thought the full backs were excellent. Alan's set up both goals and was outstanding for us."
"Now Neal Eardley is gone you realise just how good he was, he's established in the Championship already. Kel's been in his shadow a bit and now he has the chance to show himself, he's come in for Andy and done fantastic today. Chris Taylor and Pawel Abbott are playing through injuries and I thought Chris was excellent today, as was Pav. The work ethic for the whole team was excellent and right from the off in the second half we were with it, getting at them."
