Owen joins County

Gareth Owen has joined Stockport County. Owen was frustrated with the lack of opportunities and has moved to Stockport on loan for the whole of next season. The 23 year old is under contract to 2008 and is one of nine players to leave Boundary Park as new manager John Sheridan shakes up the bag to shuffle his squad into a workable unit for next season. Owen only played in 21 of last season's 52 games.
Sheridan said, “I knew the position when I took over and I'm doing what I feel is best for next season. It can be frustrating when players are offered more money by other clubs, but there's nothing we can do about it. A few have gone, but that's the way to make room for others. I'm confident we'll get the quality we need. In Gareth Owen's case, he is a good, honest lad and a good professional. but I feel we need more pace at the back.”
